Effects of Recertification on the Continuing Education of Family Physicians

A b s t r a c t

A qualitative study using semistructured interviews was done to assess the changes family physicians had made to their continuing education as a result of the introduction of a compulsory recertification program. A minority had increased the time they had spent on edu-cation. However, there were marked changes in the types of educational activities selected and many had become more focused on selecting activities to meet their educational needs.
