Moving CME Closer to the Clinical Encounter: The Promise of Quality Management and CME
Donald E. Moore Jr., PhD

A b s t r a c t

The purpose of this article is to set the context for the articles in this special edition on continuing medical education (CME) and quality management (QM). We provide a brief review of the evolution of the current forms of quality management and CME that will improve our understanding of each as we begin to examine how QM systems and CME can work together. This improved understanding about QM systems and how they work is an important prerequisite for developing working alliances between CME and QM systems.
