The Evolution and Evaluation of a Physician Interest Group in Geriatric Continuing Medical Education

A b s t r a c t

A physician interest group was develop to meet the perceived needs of community physicians in the area of geriatric education. The educational programs developed were self-directed, case-based, and problem-oriented. A multidisciplinary and community practice emphasis was used. Results from a formative evaluation suggest that the interest group may be a promising approach to develop leadership and to facilitate changes in clinical practice among physicians.
