CME Accreditation: An Overview, with Two Challenges
Robert K. Richards, PhD

A b s t r a c t

The history of the CME accreditation process is reviewed, along with a critique of its current status and an expression of concern about its future if the system is left unchanged. In addition, two challenges are offered: (1) to reevaluate the current CME accreditation/credit/requirements system and (2) to consider revision of the ACCME Essentials.
