The Risk of Infection in the Medical Office: An Educational Program

A b s t r a c t

Despite the lack of epidemiological data, there is reason to suspect that practitioners are unaware of the risk of infection in their medical offices and may not understand how to limit that risk. A survey of practitioners in one region of France identified a number of "hygienic" errors in office practice. A comprehensive multimedia educational program was mounted to correct these errors, and subsequent evaluation showed significant change in the knowledge and attitudes of participating practitioners.
