Continuing Education in Geriatrics: An Imperative for Elderly Care

A b s t r a c t

As the aging population increases, there is a critical need for health care professionals to be knowledgeable about current, research-based information, as well as the psychosocial effects of illness in later life. Health care issues are identified and suggestions offered for continuing medical education programs in three areas: Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, hypertension, and pharmacology.
