CASE REPORT
Yvonne De Buda, MD Colin R. Woolf, MD A b s t r a c t Saturday at the University is a three-year update course for family physicians covering all major medical topics. The course consists of three Saturdays (0900 1600 hours) in the fall and three Saturdays in the spring of each year. Outstanding teachers give presentations of no loner than ten minutes' duration, each presentation being followed by a ten-minute period for both written questions and questions from the floor. Simple handouts based on three important points from each presentation and paper reproductions of print slides are also given to each participant. Saturday at the University was determined successful on the basis of large attendance (370 registrants, many coming long distances), a remarkably high degree of satisfaction by the participants, and self-proclaimed increase in knowledge and changes in health care. Thus it is concluded that an update course for family physicians is acceptable on a series of Saturdays, especially when an innovative format is used.
