Continuing Education for Athletic Trainers Based on Learning Style Research

A b s t r a c t

This article describes a study that assessed the learning styles of athletic trainers for the purpose of improving continuing education for this group. It was found that most subjects: preferred kinesthetic learning (60%); were independent learners (63%); preferred written as opposed to oral examination (58%); and spent the majority of their study time in a reading mode (72%). On the basis of these results, guidelines for continuing education of athletic trainers were developed.
