Computer-Assisted Instruction: Is It Right for You?

A b s t r a c t

This article discusses computer-assisted instruction (CAI) from the perspective of program-format and courseware users and provides current examples of computer-assisted instruction in the health field. The major benefits and limitations of various CAI will be briefly discussed. For those not already using computer-assisted instruction in their education programs, this article will provide a better understanding of CAI, and, for those currently using CAI, the article will provide a framework for evaluating alternative CAI programs for meeting your educational objectives.
